David Whitaker

David Whitaker joined General Atomics as Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) in January of 2023, bringing with him more than 30 years of leadership experience with engineering/ manufacturing/aerospace & defense companies. He has expertise in global technology operations, rapid integrations of mergers and acquisitions and divestitures, as well as establishing a managed risk approach that encompasses critical compliance areas including cybersecurity, business continuity and disaster recovery. Dave is a proven executive team player with keen business acumen that is laser-focused on leveraging technology to drive EBITDA improvements, strategic goal achievement and creating operational excellence. Prior to 2023, Dave served as VP and CIO for Sierra Space in Louisville, Colorado; CIO and Director of ERP for General Dynamics in St. Petersburg, Florida; VP-CIO for IT Executive Advisement Services in Charlotte, North Carolina, and VP-Global Information Services for Avintiv, Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from California State University-Hayward, Hayward, CA and earned an MBA , Technology Management from University of Phoenix, Mesa, AZ.
